Art festival leaves a lasting mark on Bedminster Green

Upfest, one of Europe’s best-known street art festivals, returned to Bristol at the end of May, with Bedminster Green once again playing an important part in the programme. 

Three locations in Bedminster Green were included in this year’s festival, showing the area’s importance to Bristol’s street art scene. Artists from across the UK and beyond worked on site, spoke to local people and brought new ideas to familiar spaces. 

One of the standout artworks in east Bedminster this year is the pumping station on Dalby Avenue, which has been transformed by Italian artist RAME13. 

RAME13 has created a river-themed mural that wraps around the building in bold colour. Inspired by water, nature and the rhythms of the local environment, the artwork brings a sense of calm and continuity to the site. It turns a functional building into a striking local landmark and reflects Bristol’s connection to its waterways and environmental heritage. 

Now that this year’s festival has ended, the artworks remain as a lasting reminder of Upfest in east Bedminster. They are free to visit and open for everyone to enjoy.
