Princess Street development approved

Bristol City Council Planning Committee A has resolved to approve plans for a major mixed-use development on Princess Street.

In March, the committee resolved to approve the plans and asked for some further details to be finalised. These covered the approach to affordable housing, how the commercial space will be used and mitigation for local schools. In April, the committee resolved to approve the final wording on these conditions, with further conditions and legal agreement to be finalised.

The development will include:

  • 434 new homes for rent through ‘build-to-rent’, which means one organisation owns the homes and rents them out
  • 87 of these will be affordable homes
  • 400 student rooms
  • 4 new buildings, ranging from 6 to 23 storeys
  • More than 1,100 square metres of space at street level for community and business uses.
