New homes for animals at Windmill Hill City Farm
Bedminster Green developer Dandara Living have supported Windmill Hill City Farm with the expansion of their cattle shelter. The farm now has a more spacious and comfortable home for resident cattle, Tavi and Haze.
The Dandara team extended the shelter, built a new goat shelter, improved fencing and water systems, and upgraded the pigs’ wallow. They also provided an automatic water drinker and hay rack, helping free up time for staff and volunteers to focus on enrichment activities, to foster more meaningful connections between people and animals.
A new cattle crush (a device used to safely restrain cattle for husbandry procedures such as vaccinations) , donated by Dandara Living and Vattenfall, is also being installed to support ongoing animal care.
Last year, as part of ongoing works on Bedminster Green, the Bristol City Council Highways Team and contractors ETM also built new pens for the farm’s goats.
Dandara Living completed the Stafford Yard development as part of the Bedminster Green regeneration in early Summer 2025 and residents have begun moving in. The scheme consists of 295 build-to-rent apartments alongside 21 affordable homes in an adjacent apartment block.
