Xquisite Spaces to take on tenancy of The Greenhouse from October
Following a competitive tender process, Bristol City Council has awarded Xquisite Spaces the meanwhile tenancy of The Greenhouse, Hereford Street, Bedminster.
Xquisite Spaces stood out for their commitment to inclusivity, creativity and community wellbeing. Their vision for The Greenhouse aligns strongly with the goals of the Bedminster Green Regeneration programme — to nurture community organisations and ensure that regeneration delivers real benefits for the people of BS3.
Xquisite Spaces is a community-focused organisation dedicated to creating safe, inclusive, and inspiring environments. Their work centres around supporting individuals who are often excluded from traditional venues, including those with accessibility needs, members of the LGBTQ+ community and people living with long-term health or mental health challenges.
Through their existing venue and programmes, Xquisite Spaces offers access to fitness, wellbeing, creative arts, and social connection in ways that are welcoming, affirming, and safe. In their current premises in East Bristol, activities include a food bank, a regular meet up for black mothers, social prescribing groups and regular meetings of the Bristol ADHD Collective.
Over the next three years, The Greenhouse will become a vibrant hub for movement, creativity and connection. Xquisite Spaces will host:
- inclusive fitness sessions
- creative workshops
- community events
- collaborative projects with local partners
Xquisite Spaces began their tenancy in early October with programming expected to launch shortly after. Residents and local organisations are encouraged to get involved, collaborate, and help shape this exciting new chapter.
The Greenhouse is being let on a flexible rent as part of a wider effort to ensure that local people benefit from the regeneration of Bedminster Green. In letting the Greenhouse, Bristol City Council hope to nurture local and independent organisations to develop and grow, and to encourage more socially-trading organisations to locate within the area on a long-term basis and provide benefits to the local community and wider social, environmental and cultural benefits.
Alongside the letting of the Greenhouse, Bristol City Council are also working to support the set-up of Bedminster Works, an innovative new ‘local property partnership’ which also looks to create more community ownership and stewardship of key assets in the area.
